What does CHAS do in my House?

College Houses & Academic Services (CHAS) is Penn's department responsible for making your College House community accessible, intellectual, and connected to the life of the University.  Here's how we do that in your House:

The Faculty Director is a member of Penn's faculty who lives in your College House and is responsible for the academic and intellectual life of the House.

Your House Director lives in your College House and is responsible for administering the programming that happens there.  They also supervise your House staff, and might even be your academic advisor!  A professional member of the CHAS staff with a background in university residential life, your House Director is not just an advisor in the undergraduate schools but also knows how to access the many services available to students at the University.

Your House Coordinator is a professional member of CHAS staff who helps manage the day-to-day operations of the House.  They will often be found in your House office, and can help answer your questions.

College House Fellows are members of Penn's faculty who live in your House and bring the intellectual life of the University along with them. They often host events and opportunities to share their academic knowledge with you.
