Chonita Damian is the director of the Maya School of Nursing in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. Founded in 2024 and enrolling their first class in 2025, the Maya School of Nursing works to change the health and well being of Maya communities through improved patient care and developing nursing careers for the Maya of Guatemala. During her presentation, Ms. Damian will share her dreams and experiences in nursing and education and her growing career. She will share what it means to be Tz'utujil Maya today and what the future of nursing in Guatemala looks like to her.
